Classroom management
In my classroom we are constantly reviewing our expectations and reflecting on them! You will find information below regarding my classroom management practices.
Cubes- Your child will start the day with 3 cubes. If there is a negative behavior occurring, your child will receive a verbal reminder. If after the verbal reminder the behavior continues, he or she will lose a cube. Children can lose up to 3 cubes. After lunch, we will have a reset and any cubes lost in the morning will be regained for the afternoon session. Consequences for losing cubes are:
1 cube lost- Walking with a teacher at recess for 3 minutes. At the end of the 3 minutes they will reflect with the teacher about what went wrong and how to fix it.
2 cubes lost- Walking with a teacher at recess for 5 minutes. Reflection time at the end.
3 cubes lost- Walking with a teacher at recess for 10 minutes. Reflection time at the end.
Dojo points and parties- My students work hard to earn Dojo points on Class Dojo. In addition to receiving points, occasionally points need to be taken as well. Every 2 weeks I set a goal for points. If students meet that number of points, they will get to take part in our Dojo party.
Compliments- My students collect compliments from other teachers and staff, as well as from me. We work very hard to earn compliments at our specials classes, while walking in the hallways, outside on the playground, as well as in the classroom. Once we collect 25 compliments, the students earn a compliment party. Compliment parties may be: classroom iPad time, movie party, popcorn party, decorating cookies, a special treat, etc.
Verbal Praise- I give lots of verbal praise throughout the day to encourage my students to keep working their hardest and doing their best!
